#6: Top 10 Dumbest Things Monitored Employees Have Been Caught Doing!

This one leads to an attempt to hide the evidence… but not so fast…

6.  Delete, delete, delete!

DeleteKey“From 9 am to 5 pm…there it was…an employee emailing, chatting, searching, and shopping.  We shook our heads in disbelief.  I wondered how she could focus on the job at hand.  In the middle of the first week of monitoring I went to the company handbook and emailed everyone a portion of our Acceptable Use Policy as a subtle hint, suggesting they ‘read, review, and abide.’  The screen snapshots feature showed that as she read the emailed policy, she immediately began deleting MASS QUANTITIES of emails…then it showed her moving to the deleted files section and deleting the deletions.  If it hadn’t been so serious, it would have been almost humorous.”

The good news here is that Spector 360 did its job… it located an employee that was wasting a HUGE percentage of their day on non-work related activities. When management decided to “remind” everyone to they are subject to recording the offending employee decided it was time to straighten up… management was able to verify this by watching the video playback of her computer activity and ACTUALLY SEE her delete the evidence.

…and be sure to check back on Monday September 14th for #5
